Shortcake
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups flour
- 3 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Baking Powder
- 1 Tsp. Salt
- 3/4 cup milk
Heat oven to 450 degrees. In a bowl, mix the first five ingredients using a pastry cutter until butter is in very small pieces. Add the milk and stir into a dough. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth and then roll out to about 1 inch thick. Cut into equal pieces or circles. Place cakes on baking sheet. Optional: sprinkle cakes with sugar or cinnamon sugar. Bake for 10 min.
After the short cake has cooled slice in half horizontally. Fill and top with the fruit of your choice and whipped cream.
