A classic chili--warm and savory on it's own or perfect paired with a baked potato.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 2 15 oz. cans pinto beans
- 1 onion, chopped (or 4 tbsp. dry minced onion)
- 1 clove garlic, minced ( on 1/8 tsp. dry minced garlic)
- 1 tbsp. chili powder
- 2 tsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/8 tsp dried red pepper flakes
- 1 cup water
- 1 15 oz. can tomatoes, crushed
- Brown the ground beef in a large frying pan. Add the oil, beans, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, and red pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the water and tomatoes and simmer for 15-60 minutes.
- Serve in bowls with toppings of your choice.

MEATLESS VARIATION: omit the ground beef and add 1 cup corn, zucchini, peppers or other vegetables.
* SLOW COOKER METHOD: After step one add place all of the ingredients into the slow cooker and cook on low 4-6 hours.

4 tbsp. dired onion
1/8 tsp. dried garlic
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes
Mix together and store in air tight container.
To make chili:
Brown 1 pound ground beef. Add seasoning mix and 2 15 oz. cans of pinto beans. Cook for 2 minutes and then add 1 cup water and 1 15 oz. can crushed tomatoes.
